Call to host Starlight Meeting 2025 is now open

In October 2025, following our commitment to hold an annual event, we plan to celebrate the "VIII Starlight Astrotourism Meeting". The date is yet to be confirmed, but it will take place in the last quarter of 2025.

The previous venues for this event have been Gredos (Castilla y León), Menorca (Balearic Islands), Monasterio de El Olivar (Aragón), Évora (Portugal), Fuencaliente de La Palma (Canary Islands), Cuenca (Castilla-La Mancha) and the last one in Cee (Galicia).

The annual Starlight Meetings are born with the aim of becoming a lively meeting where, in addition to specific presentations by people directly responsible for the territories, entities and activities related to Starlight, and experts in the cross-cutting themes of the Declaration of La Palma (2007), round tables will be held in which all interested parties can contribute their ideas and exchange experiences, as well as raise the challenges and opportunities that should open up for the future in the field of Astrotourism, led by the Starlight Foundation.

In turn, this event will allow us to visit and discover the skies of other Starlight-labeled destinations. Therefore, Starlight Tourist Destinations and/or Starlight Reserves, as well as other certified modalities (accommodations, Starlight Parks, etc.) have priority to host this meeting.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE EVALUATED

Based on the experience of previous editions, it is important that the chosen area allows for the organization of some leisure and/or cultural activity, as this has proven to be an interesting opportunity to promote tourism in the area and create synergies among participants in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

This meeting should be face-to-face, but should be able to offer the possibility of some conferences to be on-line and the possibility of broadcasting it by streaming.

At the closing dinner we will celebrate the gala ceremony of the VI Edition of the Starlight Awards and Recognitions in its different modalities.

DATES

The process for selecting the host of the Starlight 2025 meeting will be rigorous. Nominations are due by February 7, 2025. Each proposal will be evaluated according to the criteria outlined in the application form. The selected site will be officially announced on February 21, 2025, allowing sufficient time for proper coordination and promotion of the event between the Starlight Foundation and the selected site.
