The International Tourism Fair FITUR 2024, which will take place from January 24 to 28 at the IFEMA Exhibition Center in Madrid, will bring together 9,000 companies, 152 countries, more than 800 exhibitors and is expected to attract more than 250,000 visitors, including professionals and the general public, in its 44th edition.
This is an event in which astrotourism will be more prominent than ever this year, as all publications point to it as the number one travel trend in 2024. For this reason, the Starlight Foundation will be present, actively working and meeting with areas and initiatives related to astrotourism, with an intense agenda by its director, Antonia Varela, that leaves no room for doubt:
12:30 Official ceremony for the award of the Starlight Tourist Destination Certificate to the Monteiberico Corredor de Almansa and Mancha Júcar Region in Albacete - Castilla-La Mancha Stand Stage (Hall 7).

During FITUR 2024, Varela will also meet with authorities and officials from different autonomous communities in Spain and countries where new certifications and/or potential certifications are being obtained.
A Starlight Reserve is a protected natural area where a commitment to protecting the quality of the night sky and access to starlight is established.
Starlight Tourist Destinations are locations with ideal conditions for observing the stars and where light pollution is controlled. This makes them logical destinations for tourism based on the appreciation of the sky as part of the natural world.
Among the Other Modalities, the Starlight Foundation includes the Starlight Accommodations, establishments with ideal conditions for astrotourism.
