Club del Navegante Nautic School, with offices in Barcelona, Sabadell, Vic and Tarragona, has been awarded Starlight Company certification for its commitment to astrotourism and its adherence to the 'Declaration on the Defence of the Night Sky and the Right to Starlight', promoted by the Starlight Foundation.
This certification not only highlights the company's work in favour of astrotourism, but also the shipping company's commitment to highlighting the relationship that has always existed between navigation and astronomy, and the development of astrotourism activities linked to navigation.
The Starlight Foundation grants this type of accreditation to spaces, activities or companies that meet a series of favourable conditions for stargazing and promote the development of activities related to this natural resource. To this end, a study is made of the resources and values of the site, the qualifications of the human team in charge of its management, the quality of the tourist products on offer, linked to the natural and cultural resources of the area, etc.
Experience, dedication and a wide range of courses to obtain nautical qualifications. Club del Navegante offers monthly courses to obtain the Basic Boating Licence, PER and Skipper at the headquarters in Barcelona, quarterly courses in the other delegations of Catalonia, as well as in the nautical schools in Sabadell, Vic and in the collaborating centres of the school in Tarragona.
The Starlight certification of this nautical company and ten others along the coast is being supported by Next Generation funds within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan included in the Tourism Experiences Spain project of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, through the Sea Starlight project led by Nautic Ocean and supported by the Starlight Foundation.
As part of this project, a course of Starlight astronomical observations will be carried out for these companies and nautical schools, which will take place on the island of La Palma between 11 and 16 December 2023.
