European Interparliamentary Space Conference 2026

On September 21–22, 2026, the Congress of Deputies in Madrid will host the European Interparliamentary Space Conference (EISC), bringing together parliamentarians, experts, and space sector professionals to discuss the main challenges and opportunities facing European space policy. This year's conference will take place under the Spanish Presidency and the theme “Space as a Common Strategic Asset.”

Antonia Varela, Director of the Starlight Foundation, will participate on September 21 in the second working session, dedicated to the role of academia, talent, and scientific leadership in strengthening Europe's space capabilities. Her participation will provide an opportunity to highlight the importance of protecting the night sky and preserving it as a scientific, cultural, and environmental heritage.
