The certification as Starlight Village or City is intended for those small towns with their own identity and a mainly rural nature, which are looking to diversifying their economy through the development of the astrotourism, with the aim of favoring the economic and sustainable growth of the territory and preventing the depopulation of the same.

This modality of certification keeps a similarity with what could be a Starlight Tourist Destination, but at a small scale and with more limited activities and objectives.
