STARMUS La Palma Fest

'Starmus La Palma,' the world's leading science and art outreach event, will be held from April 26 to 28, 2025

"Starmus La Palma," the world's leading science and art outreach event, will be held from April 26 to 28, 2025, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the 40th anniversary of the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory.

After four editions hosted in different countries, Starmus returns to the Canary Islands—alongside the Starlight Foundation—as part of the recovery program for the island of La Palma following the devastation caused by the Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption in 2021. The festival will serve as a platform for the international promotion of the “Isla Bonita” and reinforce its position as one of the world’s most privileged destinations for stargazing.

Starmus Festival is a unique global celebration where science, astronomy, art, and music come together to create an extraordinary blend of entertainment and education. In fact, no other event gathers so many global science icons in a festival format that includes music, exhibitions, competitions, and public engagement activities. The central theme of this new edition will be "Protecting the Skies."

Within the framework of the Starlight Declaration or La Palma Declaration in Defense of the Night Sky and the Right to Starlight—an initiative promoted by the IAC and written and signed by international institutions such as UNESCO, UNWTO, and the IAU, with the Starlight Foundation as its coordinating body—this year's main highlight will be a once-in-a-lifetime concert titled “Music of the Stars.”

This concert will take place at the Gran Telescopio Canarias, located at Roque de los Muchachos, and will feature internationally renowned artists. It will be livestreamed to various public venues across the island and to audiences around the globe. Additionally, a “Star Party” concert will be held in Tazacorte.
